 | The United States of America Land of the Free Home of the Brave | Located deep in the exotic beauty of South Carolina, Red Barn Farm is filled with magic. Nothing is quite "ordinary" here, from our llama twins to our Shiitake Mushroom Logs. Let me introduce you to our realm... I'm Mary Anne,
originally from Walhalla, the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range in South Carolina - commonly called the Garden of the Gods. I laugh and tell everyone I'm a Goddess that escaped. Creating unique art, growing lush flowers, and raising llamas is what I do best. My husband, Jo, is a doctor, but is also an accomplished Magician, and a big part of everything that happens here. We offer a variety of lovely gifts and well-conformed, intelligent, healthy llamas. Here is a quick introduction to our gifts:

Llamas for Loving! I had always talked of wanting a llama, but I had a horse, Misty, that I had raised from a filly, plus I was raising cattle to promote lean beef, so a llama was out of the question. One day I lost my precious Misty. Needless to say, I was broken hearted and crying didn't help. In an effort to cheer me up, Jo took me to the local shopping mall that had a traveling petting zoo and they had llamas. To my total surprise he and our two children had purchased Clancy for me. This was May 20, 1988. Clancy was 6 months old and he was sooooo cute. Shortly after we got Clancy we moved from NC back home to SC. When I drove down pulling a 16 ft. trailer, I had 4 Brahman cows and a 2000 lb. Brahman Bull in the front compartment, and 4 Brahman calves and Clancy in the back. Cars would pass, then slow down and pass again trying to see what that animal was. When I stopped to get gas and came back to the truck a crowd would always be looking in the trailer. They called me the Brahma/Llama Lady. I finally sold my cattle, I got tired of going to the meat department in the local grocery store and wondering if there was "anybody I knew". I got our first female, Collette, in 1991 and she later surprised me with healthy twins! The more I learned about llamas, the more I knew what I wanted to produce. I usually have a herd of around 20, and have some for sale most of the time. Some are pet quality, others are breeding quality. Some have medium length fiber, some have heavy fiber without guard hair. They are all sweet animals and are like my children. Our breeding goals are for athletic, healthy, gentle llamas with enjoyable fiber. To see some we have for sale, visit our Llamas for Sale page. |
